Purchasing Tip: |
For single-flowered daffodils, purchase in the
"puffy gooseneck" stage. Flowers should be at a 45°
angle to the stem. The bud should be puffy with membrane around
it opened and showing color, but not opened. For small, multi-flowered
narcissus, purchase when flowers have just begun to open. Be
specific when ordering daffodils or narcissus. Try to find out
variety, because there are differences in color and form. |
Conditioning: |
Recut underwater - Warm water Solitary
conditioning is critical. Slime exudate from stems causes
decreased longevity in other flowers, particularly tulips. Condition
alone for 4 to 6 hours, preferably for 24 hours. This allows
for hydration and time for sap to leach in the water. |
Ethylene Sensitivity: |
Crop is NOT ethylene sensitive. |
